Why we exist
Most small businesses sit on one of two networks: consumer kit that buckles when 30 phones connect at once, or an impersonal MSP charging monthly for the privilege of "your ticket is in the queue." Neither treats the network as the foundation it actually is.
Net Intellect puts a third option in front of small UK businesses: properly engineered Ubiquiti UniFi networks, delivered hands-on by the network specialist who scopes the job and stays accountable afterwards. No subscription tax. No call-centre hand-off when something needs adjusting.
Why UniFi-only
After years of mixed-vendor installs (Cisco Meraki, Aruba, Ruckus, Draytek, the lot), one platform stood out for small UK businesses. UniFi is the only major business-grade ecosystem where the licensing model is "buy the hardware once, then nothing." Over five years that licensing line on a typical office stack adds up to thousands of pounds you weren't quoted at install-time. For a community venue on a tight budget, it's the difference between viable and impossible.
Specialising on one ecosystem means every install follows the same rigorous standard. The same controller pattern, the same documentation, the same way we keep different networks isolated (we use what's called VLAN segmentation across the board), the same handover pack. When you call about a problem, we know your stack inside out. It's the only stack we work with. See what each service includes →
How we work
Every job follows the same four steps:
- Free site survey. We come to you, walk the building, measure coverage, and understand who'll be using the network. You receive a written summary even if you don't proceed. The visit is genuinely free.
- Line-by-line proposal. Real prices for real hardware, with design and configuration shown as line items rather than buried in "installation". Approval at your own pace; nothing's ordered until you've signed.
- Clean install. Surface trunking painted to match. Cables labelled at both ends. Cabinets cable-managed properly. Photos at every stage so you can see exactly what's behind the walls when we leave.
- Handover & support. Network diagram, asset register with serial numbers, sealed login pack. Optional ongoing support through the same dashboard you can self-host. No lock-in.
Where we work
The standard catchment runs across Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and the eastern edge of the West Midlands: Birmingham, Cheltenham, Hereford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Evesham, Tewkesbury, Pershore, and the Cotswolds villages south of the M50.
Beyond the standard radius we'll travel for project work where the scope justifies it: multi-site retail rollouts, hospitality groups across two or three venues, that kind of thing. Mileage at HMRC rate, no premium loaded on top.
The kit we trust
We design and install around the Ubiquiti UniFi ecosystem: access points, switches, gateways, cameras, door access, identity. For the cabling and ancillary kit alongside it we use brands we've tested in the field: DrayTek for fallback connections on older broadband lines, CyberPower for battery backup on critical kit, Cloudflare Workers for the captive-portal layer, Brevo and Mailchimp on the marketing-list end. Every brand we recommend is a brand we've installed dozens of times.
Who we work with
Small businesses, single-site or up to a handful of sites. Offices, hospitality (pubs, restaurants, hotels, cafés), retail (single shops and small chains), professional services (accountants, solicitors, consultancies), charities and community venues (village halls, charitable trusts, sports clubs). What they share is a preference for reliability over vendor prestige: networks that work, and bills that don't keep climbing forever.
Free site survey, written summary, no pitch.
The first conversation is just a conversation. We come to you, measure the building, and send a summary, even if you don't proceed.
